So lucky old me picked up an iPod Touch over Christmas.

I wanted to start a thread for folk to post up their Application reviews.

Apps to buy n try
Apps to avoid

Moderators feel free to shift this to a more prominent location.

Jelly Car Free 2D puzzel 'platformer'.
A full game for free that utilises the tilt and touch screen. A good starting point.

Trace Free
Use the touch screen to draw platforms to get you stick figure to the end of the level, avoiding obsacles.
Can be difficult to draw accurately if you have FAT fingers like me.

Inside Xbox Free
Needs wifi connection.
Add your friends and watch some of the videos on the marketplace.

Stanza Free
eBook app with links to a bunch of free books do download (free if published over 50 years ago).

Snow Patrol Free
Nice little app to accompany the Hundred Million Suns.
Uses pinch touch to navigate origami stars. Song lyrics and some video content if you can find it.

bought a load for me iphone. choice ones would be:

Rolando - like locoroco - expensive but worth it
Toppple - tetris with tilt-ish - free i think
Tapdefense - free version of deskop tower defense games
Linerider - iphone version of the flash classic
Air hockey - self explanatory - 1/2player
Galcon - fantasticly simple little strategy game
robologic - puzzler based on inputting programming commands - only just got this but pleased.
Ocarina - a nice little ocarina - and you can listen to other people play.
Space Deadbeef - free r-type rip off
Dropship - again rip off of a classic - very good though - 59p
Vicinity - good little app to find local banks and things.
Labyrinth - ball tilt game - free version available
CrazyTanks - tilt controlled tank game - also very good for the price.

God I've wasted a lot of money.....

Look out for apps from smule and ngmoco. they're usually good too.

Picked up the Star Walk App.
A couple of quid, but great for star gazing and picking out planets in the night sky.

Any advice in terms of FM transmiter / holder for the car?

I've been using an ipod for a few years, mostly for Podcasts on the way to work and that did me fine.

I did have a PSP, but sold that to fund my RockBand tour back in the day. Tbh, the PSP was not being used - if they had put a second thumb stick on, then it would be a different story. So, I have experienced a PSP.

But, now I'm fortunate enough to have a ipod touch (not the phone).

It is a great little device and there are some craking games. Obviously controls can be a bit hit and miss - esp if you have fat fingers!

Only problem is that you are restricted to youtube videos when on the net - there are some restrictions with internet (flash too) - and it hasn't been cracked yet (jailbreak).

In short, I like it.
Internet, podcasts, video (ripped DVD's) and more games than you could throw a DS at (and a fraction of the price too - 59p for a game? Come ON!)

I'm still tempted, can the itouch do everything the iphone can apart from phone functions obviously or is it not worth getting the itouch? As i've just bought a new phone and don't really want a contract phone anyway.

Anything else that´s a must have?

So far I´ve tried:
Puzzle Quest
TV show king
asphalt 4
spore
crash kart racing
ms pacman
bomberman
NES emulator (gotta get some more emulators like gameboy etc)
The lego batman game
monkey ball
scrabble
UNO
Tetris
Bejeweled 2
Twitteriffic
Facebook
IM+Lite

Will convert some films and tv shows later.
But apart from that I think Ive tried everything with it that can be done.

Love the browser and the little youtube app is very cool.

I use it mostly for podcasts too. But I will use this ipod a lot more than my old one as it can do tons more. (I had an old U2 ipod from 2004 lol)
You can play psp quality games on it.
It´s just so nice and small. And it´s great when you for example watch a film or are in a different part of the house and just wanna check your facebook or a forum, you grab the ipod touch instead of goin to your computer.
Social Networking, surfing, IM´ing, playing games, listening to music and watching videos. What more can you want from a portable device :D

Hope they will release peggle for it as rumored.

I jailbroke it like 10 mins after I got it.
Don´t you just love our hacker friends?
Which version and size do you have?

The BBC iplayer works on it too.

What are the advantages of a jailbreak Tanya?
Does it affect the operation or the warranty?
Can it be reversed?

Got a comic reader for it last night too.
Works great and so much better than reading them on the psp.

With a jailbroken ipod touch you can install "homebrew" apps and games. That´s mainly what it´s about. Basically the same thing as when you flash a psp.
And yeah, you can reverse it, just click restore in itunes.

It doesn´t affect the warranty as if it breaks somehow you just restore to factory settings through itunes and apple will never know it´s been jailbroken
